Meet Our Pastor

Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ!

My name is SangChurl Bae. I was born and raised in South Korea. After graduation from college and mandatory military service, I decided to come to the United States for further study in theology. It was not my initial plan to stay here and to make it home. I intended to go back to Korea where both of my parents are still living. However, God had a different plan for me.

While I was finishing up my master’s degree at Boston University, I was called to serve a local church as a student local pastor. I did not know what to do with that calling. I had never preached in English before. I had never worshipped in the church where the primary language was English. I was so scared of taking the call to become a pastor of the church. It was not just about language but also about culture and people. However, it turned out to be one of the best decisions I had made.

The church I was called to serve was a small but very loving church. They loved and cared for me in the love of God. I learned so much from them. I enjoyed my time with them tremendously. They had left in me wonderful memories as well as reminders of what it means to be the church and Christian believer. The churches are meant to be reflective of God’s love. We are meant to be also reflective of God’s love.

I was appointed to be the pastor of Lebanon UMC as of July 1st, 2020. I am new to this area, to this church, and to the people. However, we are in this journey of faith together. We are bound with one another by the love of God. So we are not new to each other, for we are already made to be brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus.

Along with my gratefulness, I pray and hope that we continue to grow in the love and in the knowledge of God as the people of God, called United Methodists here in Lebanon, NH.
